About PantryProfessor

Why This Site Exists

You are standing in your kitchen. You have cooked chicken in the fridge from three days ago, and you need to know: is it still good? You don't want to read a 1,500-word article. You want the answer.

PantryProfessor was built for that moment. Fast answers on food storage times, cooking times, and ingredient substitutions. Backed by USDA data. No fluff, no scrolling, no ads that push the answer below the fold.

Our Sources

Food storage times come from the USDA FoodKeeper database, the FDA, and the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service. Cooking temperatures come from the USDA Safe Minimum Internal Temperatures chart. Ingredient substitution ratios come from established culinary reference sources.

Every page displays its source and last verification date. For a complete breakdown of where our data comes from and how we keep it accurate, see our Sources & Methodology page.

If you spot an error, please contact us at hello@pantryprofessor.com.

Who We Are

PantryProfessor was created by Pete M., a writer and researcher who got tired of scrolling through 1,500-word blog posts just to find out if leftover chicken was still safe to eat.

The Professor is our mascot, but the data is real, the sources are cited, and a human is accountable for accuracy. Every page is researched against USDA and FDA sources, cross-referenced for consistency, and published with a verification date.

PantryProfessor is an independent reference site. We are not affiliated with any food manufacturer, appliance brand, or government agency. Our goal is simple: make food safety information accessible, fast, and useful.

How We Make Money

PantryProfessor is supported by display advertising through Mediavine. Ads appear around our content but never inside the tool experience. We do not accept sponsored content, and our food safety information is never influenced by advertisers.
